the mother

The Mother is the second work on parental figures and the final piece of the exhibition, serving as an antithesis to previous works. It suggests that identity is more elusive an nuanced than the external world by which we may define self. Created with eyes closed, dictating purely by feeling of how I see my mother in my mind's eye, emphasised the intricacies of what it means to be you. The answer to the question of compressing identity into singular specifics is doubtful, yet left unanswered.
