the father

medium: poster paint, watercolour and permanent marker on watercolour paper

The Father is the first of two works focusing on parental figures, their identity, and the factors that influence it. My father belongs to the generation of Baby Boomers, who similar to Millenials, show tendencies to define themselves through their occupation. He spent most of his life working with cameras and encompassing his entire self-worth in it, later struggling to find what he may be without it. This piece explores the effects of societal pressure on extended meaning of one's occupation.
